What to Expect
Telehealth
Currently, all services are provided through Telehealth Technology. We hope to expand our services and offer in-person care soon.
First Session
At Awakened mental health, my goal is to work with you to fully understand the issues that you are facing, and to develop a treatment strategy that addresses the problems in the most effective way possible to provide positive outcomes that are clear, lasting, and measurable. Clients and therapists work together to determine the most appropriate therapeutic approach. We believe that a respectful, confidential, and trusting therapy relationship is the foundation for all true change.
I have extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and substance abuse/trauma therapies including. I try to find the best balance between a client’s presenting problems and the modalities that will provide the most benefit. I also have training on EMDR and hope to use this groundbreaking approach with clients who can really benefit from it.
Your first session will include the required paperwork to ensure informed consent and that you have all the information necessary. You will be asked to complete some standardized screeners to help me to determine a baseline. Lastly we will spend time getting to know each other, developing your goals, and ultimately, deciding if you think I will be a good fit for you. If any of this is of concern, please let me know,
Cost
At this time, Adam Sola accepts insurance plans under Aetna, Optum, ConnectiCare and United Healthcare for clients in both New York and Connecticut. Many insurance plans are under the umbrella of these companies, so feel free to check if your plan qualifies or always feel comfortable just asking.
Currently, clients seeking EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) are asked to pay out of pocket due to the fact that this is a highly specialized treatment modality that takes considerable time and eduction to master. Insurance companies do not provide additional compensation for this modality at this time. Mr. Sola is certified in EMDR therapy, which is not required of clinicians to provide this type of therapy, but provides further proof that he is ready and adequately trained to provide this type of highly specialized treatment, which very few clinicians opt to obtain. At this time, sessions are 350$ per hour.
In addition, for those opting to pay out of pocket, We will happily provide you with the necessary documentation if you would like to work with your insurance company on receiving reimbursement for out of network services . This can help reduce your cost by up to 50-75% depending on the insurance company.
As for other reasons why someone may pay out of pocket regardless of modality. First and most importantly, insurance companies require that we provide all our clients with a mental health diagnosis which will then be a permanent part of your health record. Many clients prefer to have this information kept private and this is simply not possible when billing with insurance providers. We also know, that people are much more complicated than a simple diagnosis.
Second, insurance companies have very strict guidelines on how certain diagnoses are treated. However, people are complicated and sometimes treatment needs to be specific and unique to the client in order for it to be effective. We believe that we become less effective when insurance companies dictate how you should be cared for.
Lastly, insurance is complicated, time consuming, and limiting. We want to be honest and admit that yes, we don’t want to waste hours of our time obtaining authorizations, approvals, and reimbursement. We would rather be spending that time preparing treatment plans and developing strategies most appropriate for you.
We believe that when we take insurance out of the picture, we can provide much more targeted, confidential, and effective treatment. We would rather spend our time working with our clients than the insurance companies, we also believe that the only one who should have a say in YOUR treatment, is you.
At this time, sessions outside of EMDR are 50 minutes long and cost $250. A sliding scale is provided for those who are eligible, please inquire for eligibility.
No Surprises Act
As of January 1st, 2022, legislation called the No Surprises Act came into law. This requires that all healthcare providers provide a good faith billing estimate prior to beginning care for all new and continuing clients who are either uninsured or are not planning to use their insurance for services. If you do not have insurance, or are not planning to use it, you are to receive a good faith estimate as to the cost of your treatment. A link below can provide more information.
